Youth Enlightenment Service is delighted to announce that through partnership with the Intech Centre we will be running a free accredited European Computer Driving Licence course.

The course is available for young people aged over 19 years old.

If you want a qualification that shows your confidence, basic skills and knowledge of using computers, then getting an ECDL qualification could be right for you. Not only will you get familiar with a wide range of common IT software programmes, but the ECDL is also an internationally recognised qualification. This means when you're looking for work, now or in the future, having the ECDL on your CV will show that you have the computer skills many employers are looking for.

No prior knowledge of IT or skill in computing is needed to study ECDL it is designed for people wishing to gain a benchmark qualification in computing to enhance their career prospects or for personal development.

The basic ECDL qualification is broken down into two levels:

ECDL Essentials and ECDL Extra.

These can be taken individually to obtain single certificates, or together to achieve the overall ECDL qualification.

ECDL Essentials is a Level 1 ITQ Award and consists of 3 modules. ECDL Extra is a Level 2 ITQ Certificate and consists of 4 modules.

What are the modules?

  • IT User Fundamentals (Level 1 - Essentials)
  • Using Email and the Internet (Level 1 - Essentials)
  • Security for IT Users (Level 1 - Essentials)
  • Word processing (Level 2 - Extra)
  • Spreadsheet Software (Level 2 - Extra)
  • Presentation Software (Level 2 - Extra)
  • Improving Productivity Using IT (Level 2 – Extra)
 

Course Duration

Complete ECDL will take approximately 120 hours (45 hours for ECDL Essential and 75 hours for ECDL Extra)

This means that you will be required to complete the modules on your own computer. The benefits of this type of learning are:

 Eligibility

Participants need to be 19 years of age or older for training, however if you just wish to take the exams there is no eligibility requirement
